Development and Reform Commission puts forward four key points for China's energy development

At the end of 2007, a white paper entitled "China's Energy Status and Policy" was issued. The relevant person in charge of the National Development and Reform Commission of the white paper drafting unit stated that at present, an energy-centric energy supply system has been formed. In the future, China’s development strategy is to implement a stable, economical, clean and safe energy supply system.
According to reports, in recent years, China's renewable energy has developed rapidly. In 2006, the installed capacity of hydropower reached 130 million kilowatts, ranking the first in the world; the area of collecting solar water heaters was 95 million square meters, accounting for more than half of the world; nuclear power was built from scratch and the power generation capacity was nearly 6.85 million kilowatts. In the future, China will build a stable, economical, clean and safe energy supply system to support sustainable economic and social development with sustainable energy development.
China will develop coal in an orderly manner, actively develop electricity, accelerate the development of oil and natural gas, and vigorously develop renewable energy such as hydropower. Focus on the construction of energy projects: First, the energy base construction project, namely the orderly development of coal bases, accelerate the construction of oil and gas bases, actively develop hydropower bases, optimize the construction of coal-fired power bases, and accelerate the construction of nuclear power bases. The second is energy storage and transportation projects, namely coal transportation passages and ports, oil and gas transmission pipeline networks, and power grid facilities. The third is the industrialization of renewable energy projects. We will focus on the development of renewable energy sources such as wind power generation, biomass power generation, biomass fuel, and solar energy utilization that have high potential for resources and mature technologies. Fourth, while continuing to accelerate the construction of small hydropower and rural power grids, we will vigorously develop renewable energy sources such as wind power, biomass energy, and solar energy that are suitable for villages and towns and farmers.
In addition, China will encourage foreign investors to invest in and operate energy facilities such as power stations to further optimize the foreign investment environment and broaden the use of foreign investment.
