Dian Announces Net Sales and Third Quarter Earnings in the First 9 Months of 2011 Fiscal Year

On May 5, 2011, Dianan announced the operating results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2011 and the first nine months of fiscal 2011 (as of March 31, 2011).

In the third quarter of fiscal 2011, Dian’s sales were US$123.1 million, an increase of 9% compared to US$112.8 million in 2010. Its share-sharing profit per share was $0.94, a decrease of 5% compared to $0.99 in the same quarter last year. In addition, Dai'an also announced sales of $300.1 million for the first nine months of fiscal 2011, while sales for the first nine months of 2010 were $312.6 million, a year-on-year increase of 12%.

Mr. Frank Witney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Diane commented: “We are very pleased to maintain the momentum of revenue growth in the third quarter and we will continue to complete the merger with Thermo Fisher Scientific. Sales in the sales region increased in the third quarter, compared with the same period last year, North America’s net sales rose by 12%, Europe’s sales increased by 9%, and the growth in these two regions was mainly due to our high efficiency. Total solution for liquid chromatography, especially the UHPLC+ system for ultra-high performance liquid chromatography recently introduced in the fourth quarter of 2010. Our sales in the Asia Pacific region grew by 8%.The growth in the Asia Pacific region was mainly due to the presence in China, India and South Korea's strong demand for Dai-an's various HPLC systems."

"On December 13, 2010, Dai'an Co., Ltd. has signed an agreement to merge with Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. The transaction has already received US regulatory approval. Currently, Thermo Fisher is seeking approval from other regional anti-trust agencies. We hope to complete the merger in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011."
