Accelerating the advancement of large-scale air separation

The well-known overseas air separation companies such as Air Liquide, Linde, and American Air Products have air separation equipment of more than 90,000 grades, and air separation equipment of 110,000 grades or above has also been successfully developed and designed. As a major technical equipment, large-scale and extra-large air separation equipment can comprehensively reflect the industrial strength of a country. The import of a large-scale or extra large-scale air-separation equipment needs hundreds of millions of yuan, and if domestically produced, it can save about 30% of the cost.
The domesticization of large-scale air separation includes the localization of design, equipment manufacturing and equipment integration technology. While tracking the world's air separation technology, we must independently develop new processes for air separation, optimize unit equipment, and improve the independent manufacturing and supporting capabilities of air separation equipment.
In terms of localization of air separation design, it is necessary to master the process design and calculation technology of large air separation equipment, unit equipment design, calculation and manufacturing technologies, and complete set of integrated technologies for large air separation equipment, and optimize process configuration and energy reduction. Consumption and improve the operational reliability of air separation plants.
In terms of localization of equipment, one of the major problems currently exists is that the lack of core technologies in the equipment manufacturing industry cannot be completed independently; second, there is no opportunity to create performance. Therefore, air-subsidiaries, air separation equipment manufacturers, and air separation users should strengthen cooperation and jointly work together to promote the localization of large-scale air separation equipment and improve the competitive advantages of domestic air separation equipment.
The scale of modern coal chemical installations is increasing, and the country has also established access thresholds for the scale of coal chemical installations. Larger equipment will inevitably bring about a large capacity for oxygen demand. A modern coal chemical plant will require hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of oxygen per hour. In order to reduce investment, save land, increase the reliability of equipment operation, and reduce maintenance (repair) workload, the air separation plant must be as large as possible to reduce the number of equipment (sets). Of course, most of the coal chemical plants are built in the inland regions such as the northwest, and the large-scale equipment must also consider the constraints of transportation conditions. It is hoped that the air separation manufacturers and equipment manufacturers can minimize the external dimensions of the equipment through optimization solutions and adopting new technologies. In addition, China's coal mines are mainly located in the northwest inland areas, and most coal chemical plants are adjacent to the mining area. At present, the main obstacle to large-scale promotion of air cooling is investment is too high, and it is expected to introduce a new type of air cooler with high efficiency and investment.
Improve air separation operation safety and reliability
“The large-scale installation does not simply enlarge the original equipment, but requires careful calculations to ensure the safety and stability of the equipment.” Fu Guozhong, deputy general manager of Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., Ltd., recently accepted the report. First, there are many large-scale coal chemical gasifiers and the number of air separation units. In order to ensure the safety of gasifier operation, gasifiers have certain requirements for oxygen pressure fluctuations. How to reduce the fluctuation of oxygen pressure in the partial stoppage of the gasifier or the parking of the air separation section, and realize the linkage or interlocking between gasification and air separation to ensure the safe operation of the gasification device. The demand for oxygen in modern coal chemical industry is large, and the nitrogen demand is relatively small. How to optimize the configuration of air separation processes under the condition of guaranteeing the supply of gas to save investment and reduce energy consumption is very important.
Second, coal-to-oil, coal-to-olefins, and coal-to-ethanol ethers all require the production of hydrogen through coal gasification. However, a large amount of carbon dioxide generated at the same time is empty because it cannot be recycled. The venting of large amounts of carbon dioxide and other hydrocarbon gases poses a serious threat to the safety of air separation operations. Therefore, special effective measures must be taken in the aspects of air compressor suction inlet, air separation front-end purification and rectification system to prevent hydrocarbon accumulation, so as to reduce the resulting plant-wide parking and ensure the safety and reliability of air separation operations.
The third reason is that most of the coal chemical plants are built in the northwest region adjacent to the mining area. There are many sand and dust storms in spring and even frequent sandstorms. In order to ensure the safe operation of air compressors, attention should be paid to optimizing the design and manufacture of air compressor suction inlet filters. .
Explore new construction and operation model of air separation
The construction of a coal chemical industry area is a requirement for the modernization, basement, intensive, and multi-generation of modern coal chemical industry, and it is also a requirement for the construction of a circular economy. If there are multiple sets of devices in a coal chemical industry zone, each device will build its own air separation, which is not only not conducive to the large-scale and optimized layout of air separation devices, but also not conducive to improving the reliability of air separation devices. It is worth learning from the fact that the mode of supplying gas to the regional pipeline network abroad is worthy of reference. For example, Air Liquide has built 2,500 km of gas pipeline network in Europe (France, Belgium, and the Netherlands), including oxygen pipeline network. The implementation of pipeline network gas supply can optimize the construction scale of air separation, increase the reliability of gas supply, and help the specialized operation and management of air separation, which is worth exploring.
