The current main varieties, Mibao and Huadong No. 24, are used as materials. Thirty-four leaves of different sizes (5 to 30 cm wide) were randomly selected and numbered. The length and width of each leaf, the length of the petiole and the leaf area were determined. The leaf area was measured by a weighing method. Each numbered leaf was painted on paper colored evenly colored paper, cut along the leaf edge, and weighed on the Neutrieb balance to calculate the leaf surface ratio of the paper. The measured value obtained 134 pairs of paired data. The leaf area meter can be used as much as possible in the research experiment to reduce the complexity of the test.

The size of watermelon leaves varies greatly. Leaf area was measured by correlation method. The deviations between measured and measured values ​​of young and extra large leaves were relatively large. For this reason, the above materials were used as follows: leaf length 20 cm, leaf width 15 cm limited size 2 In the file, the correlation coefficient and the regression equation were calculated, and their significance was tested. The results showed that the leaf length is feasible with a width of 20 cm and a leaf width of 15 cm, especially with a leaf width and leaf length of 20 cm or less. It is better, but there is no significant difference between the two regression coefficients. That means that 134 leaves can be used for direct calculation and binning is not necessary.

Through the leaf area meter and other methods, it can be found that the correlation coefficient between the leaf shape and leaf area of ​​the two varieties is a positive correlation of height, reaching a significant level of 1%, and the size of the leaf area can be measured accordingly. Among these two traits, the leaf width was relatively stable, and the leaf width was most closely related to the leaf area. Therefore, the leaf area could be estimated by the width of the leaf. The method of measuring leaf area by correlation method is more time consuming in the preparation process. The key lies in sampling measurement and determining the best formula. After the regression line is obtained, the leaf area corresponding to the leaf width can be found based on the standard curve for long-term use.
