Motor vehicle child seat standards will be formally implemented on July 1.

From the second “Caring for Children with Cars on Life” public welfare forum, we learned that China’s first mandatory national standards for the “restraint system for motor vehicle child occupants” will be formally implemented on July 1 this year. This standard stipulates a restraint system. The installation and fixing requirements on the vehicle, the structure of the restraint system, and the performance requirements and test methods for the restraint system are the first mandatory national standards for restraint devices for child seats in motor vehicles.

According to reports, the restraint system is a device that is fixed on a motor vehicle and can reduce the harm to children after a vehicle collision or when it suddenly decelerates. The child restraint system mainly includes a webbing or corresponding flexible member with a protective buckle, an adjusting device, a connecting device, and an auxiliary device (for example, a portable crib, a baby carrier, an auxiliary seat, etc.). “Although China is one of the most important child safety seat production bases in the world, the use rate of child safety seats in China is still at the lowest level in the world. The consumer market for child safety seats in China has not yet formed.” Vice President, Goodbaby Group Yunlong said that the introduction and implementation of this standard will be conducive to the standard development of the domestic child safety seat industry.
