It is learned from the Shanxi Provincial Government that Shanxi has taken a number of measures to increase the efficiency of coal production and transportation and ensure energy supply. The province will have 100 construction and transformation mines put into production this year, with an increase in production capacity of about 100 million tons, and the Daqin Railway will generate more than 1 million tons of coal per day.
Shanxi Province began to implement large-scale coal resource integration and coal mine merger and reorganization in 2008. The number of mines in the province has been reduced from 2,600 to 1,053, and all coal mines with a capacity of 300,000 tons/year have been eliminated. The mines are all mechanized, and the average size of individual wells has reached 1.2 million tons/year or more.
In 2010, the coal resource integration effect has already appeared. Under the condition that all the integrated mines were put into production, the province’s coal output reached 740 million tons, reaching the highest level in history.
This year, Shanxi's coal production is expected to reach 780 million tons. By the end of May this year, Shanxi will close all non-compliance mines, and at the same time accelerate the integration of resources to keep the progress of the construction of the mine. Under the premise of guaranteeing safe production, Shanxi will have 100 construction-and-renovation mines put into operation this year, with an additional capacity of approximately 100 million tons.
According to the Taiyuan Railway Bureau, in order to ensure the safe transportation of coal, following the completion of major repairs on the Daqin Railway on April 30th, from May 5th, the Taiyuan Railway Bureau mobilized more than 5,000 cadres and workers, starting with the Nantongpu Line and the Houyue Line. The 27-day overhaul project will also implement scientific dispatching to ensure that Daqin Railway will generate more than 1 million tons of coal per day.
