Siemens and Valeo jointly develop new energy vehicle engine

On April 18, 2016, it was learned that German engineering giant Siemens AG and French automotive supplier Valeo announced on Monday that they will cooperate in the research and development of electric and hybrid vehicle engines.

The headquarters of this joint venture company will be located in Erlangen, Germany. The factories will be built in France, Norway, Poland, Hungary and China. It is expected to be put into operation in 2016.

The two companies will jointly develop and sell high-voltage motors, range-extended engines and chargers for use in electric vehicles and light commercial vehicles.

Valeo CEO Jacques said: "Siemens gives us technical support in power electronics and motor products, so that Valeo can provide consumers with micro-hybrid and pure electric vehicles, so as to maintain our leading position in the field of technology ."

The areas covered by the joint venture include Valeo's high-voltage power electronics and Siemens' electric vehicle power systems. The project will be discussed and decided by employee representatives and submitted to the anti-monopoly agency.
