Spectrophotometer Usage Rules and Precautions

The absorption of incident light at different wavelengths by different substances varies, resulting in a characteristic absorption spectrum. Spectrophotometry not only adapts to the visible light region, but also extends to the ultraviolet light region and infrared light region, thus bringing great convenience to scientific research experiments. The following focuses on the use of spectrophotometers and precautions.

Use the rule 1. Turn on the regulator power supply, after the regulator output voltage stabilizes to 200V, turn on the photometer power supply, the instrument automatically enters initialization.

2. The initialization takes about 10 minutes. The contents include: 1 Finding the zero-order light; 2 Establishing the baseline; 3 Finally, when the display indicates XX nm, it indicates that the instrument completes the initialization procedure and can enter the detection state.

3. Enter the parameters as required, select the appropriate cuvette (glass or quartz), place the blank tube, standard tube, and tube to be measured in the cuvette holder and close the cuvette cover.

4. Automatically zero with a blank tube.

5. The sample slot is moved to the sample position in turn. After the data display is stable, press the “START/STOP” button. The printer automatically prints the measured data. Repeat the above steps until all samples have been tested.

6. After the end of the test, remove the cuvette in time, clean it and put it back in place. At the same time, turn off the power switch of the instrument and the power switch of the regulator and register the usage.

Precautions 1. When the instrument is used for the first time or for a long period of time (usually one year), the wavelength accuracy must be checked to ensure the reliability of the test results.

2. The light current drift may increase due to the offset of the light source due to long-distance transportation or indoor transportation. At this point, adjust the position of the light source until it reaches the relevant technical specifications. If the three key indicators of wavelength accuracy, dark power drift, and bright current drift after adjustment have not yet met the requirements, they should be stopped and the related technical personnel should be promptly notified of the overhaul.

3. After the end of each test, check whether the solution in the colorimetric cell overflows. If there is any overflow, use a filter paper to dry it at any time to avoid causing measurement error or affecting the service life of the instrument.

4. After each use of the instrument, place a few bags of silica gel (or other desiccant) in the lamp chamber to prevent the mirror from moisture or contaminants, which will affect the instrument use and cover the dust cover.

5. The instrument room should always be kept clean and dry. The room temperature should be 5-35°C, and the relative temperature should not exceed 85%. Those who have conditions should be equipped with air conditioners and dehumidifiers indoors to ensure the stable performance of the instrument.

6. The instrument room must not store acids, alkalis, volatile or corrosive substances, so as not to damage the instrument.

7. When the instrument is not used for a long time, it should be energized and warmed up periodically, once a week for 30 minutes each time, to ensure that the instrument is in good use.
