In today's popular green tire, the tire industry in China the green tire industry development strategy has started more than one year, and the industry's influence in the huge EU tire labeling legislation has also been formally implemented six months ...... Today, the development of green tire industry How's it going? How does the industry view the market of green tires? Recently, tire companies from all over the country gathered in Shanghai to participate in the National Green Tire Technology Seminar. This reporter also interviewed industry experts.
Domestic business polarization
“At this stage, China’s green tires are still in the primary research and development stage.†Qian Ruiji, chief engineer of the “Green Tire Industry Development Research†task force and Shuangqian Group’s chief engineer, told the reporter bluntly.
In the interview, the reporter learned that in early 2012, China's rubber industry proposed to achieve the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" to achieve the industrialization of green tires, reaching 50% of enterprises can produce green tires, and 50% of the company's green tire production exceeds the normal meridian The tire's goal is to make a lot of efforts for this tire company in China, but the current polarization is obvious.
The number of tire companies in China is huge, but different companies have different production standards and the quality of products varies. On the one hand, large companies such as Delta, Double Money, Aeolus, Giti, Delicate, Race Wheel and China Strategic have invested a lot of manpower and financial resources to research and develop green tires every year from R&D to production, from tire formulation, design, and quality management. Start with improving product quality. For example, since May of 2011, Fengshen Tire has undertaken tens of millions of yuan of cost every year, and has firstly achieved 100% green manufacturing of radial tire products in China, and has passed the US SmartWay certification. On the other hand, many SMEs still focus on the production of low-end products and do not involve the development and production of green tires. These products are easily affixed to low quality labels in the international market, affecting the image of the entire industry and are also vulnerable to trade protection barriers.
Qian Ruiqi pointed out that in terms of products, the current rolling resistance of tires, the majority of China's C1 and C2 tires rolling resistance can meet the requirements of the first phase of the EU, but a considerable part of the E-F class, of which 90% The above failed to meet the minimum requirements of the second phase of the EU. According to a sample survey, it can be seen that a considerable portion of C3 products exported to Europe and the United States have failed to meet the requirements of the first phase of the EU, and a greater proportion of products cannot meet the requirements of the second phase of the EU.
Among them, in terms of tire noise, various types of products currently exported to the European Union can basically meet the requirements of the first phase, but some patterns are limited; and to achieve the second phase of the EU standard, most of the pattern products need to be improved. As far as process and equipment are concerned, the application of new technologies such as low-temperature continuous smelting, nitrogen-filled sulfiding, semi-product presulfiding, automation, and informatization is only carried out in some enterprises and new construction projects. The current industry process equipment and advanced technologies in the entire industry There is still a big gap between companies. From the perspective of energy consumption in the production process, according to the current national laws and regulations, almost all enterprises can meet the current limited targets, and new projects can also meet the required access standards, but still nearly half of the enterprises can not achieve Advanced indicators proposed by green production targets.
An engineer of a tire manufacturing company told the reporter that the tires that they exported to the EU had reached the requirements of the EU labeling law, rolling resistance performance had reached Grade B, and wet grip performance had all reached Grade A. However, these are limited to tires exported to the European Union, while the performance of domestic-oriented products is lower. Due to the relatively high technical content of green tires, the price is naturally higher than the prices of other products, but domestic customers are more inclined to durable, low-priced products and have little knowledge of the performance of the tire itself. It takes time for the green development of the Chinese tire industry.
In this regard, Cai Weimin, secretary general of the tire division of the China Rubber Industry Association, pointed out that China's tire industry is currently in a critical period of transformation and upgrading. As the growth rate of the domestic market slows, the foreign market continues to slump, the production costs of tire companies and raw material companies continue to rise, enterprises need to adopt new materials, new technologies, new processes, improve product quality, develop green tires, and increase economic efficiency.
Matching material is essential
Although China's green tires are still in the primary research and development stage, the sensitive foreign raw material companies have already seen the business opportunities in the Chinese market and have accelerated their entry into the Chinese market. According to a report from the Munich University of Technology, by 2020, the market share of green tires in China will likely increase to 50%.
The Kosai company from Turkey is the only company in the tire industry that produces industrial nylon and high-modulus low-shrinkage polyester filaments simultaneously. The nylon 66 produced accounts for 34% of the global market share and is the world's largest fiber tire cord. Manufacturers provide skeleton materials for many of the world's leading tire companies. At present, China is becoming a market they value. At this seminar, they deliberately brought in four samples of the latest products.
According to Cai Meng, the technical director of the Shanghai branch of Kosei, China is the world’s largest tire producer and accounts for one-third of global production. With the shift of the world's tire manufacturing centers to the Asian market headed by China, it is expected that the tire industry in China will continue to grow at a relatively rapid rate in the next few years. Green tires, with their fuel efficiency, safety performance and durability performance superior to ordinary tires, are the most rapidly developing segments in the tire industry. Green tires are 5% to 7% cheaper than ordinary radial tires, and the drop in fuel consumption will not only bring benefits to owners, but will also significantly reduce tailpipe emissions. At the same time, new materials added to green tires can also avoid the major drawbacks of conventional tires that cause the emission of carcinogens due to wear.
“Green tires are another major technological revolution in the tire industry after upgrading from biased tires to radial tires, and are in line with the development trend of domestic environmental protection. However, the industrialization of green tires is not solely based on the tire companies themselves, but must have the ability to produce high-performance green raw materials. The upper reaches of the enterprises are working together. Therefore, leading companies like Kosai Co., Ltd. will certainly regard the Chinese market as the key," said Cai Meng.
According to report, China's tire frame material is mainly divided into nylon frame material, polyester frame material, steel cord frame material. Due to the continuous increase of production capacity in the industry and the intense competition, China's skeleton materials industry has experienced volume and price declines in 2012, and some products have even experienced negative growth for two consecutive years. Despite fierce competition in the skeleton material market, industry sources pointed out that the development of high-strength, high-modulus new types of framework materials is a way to achieve lightweight tires, reduce rolling resistance, and thus reduce vehicle fuel consumption. The application of these high-end products in China is still relatively small and the market space is relatively large. This time, the new product Campaxe's ready-to-use crown strap can be directly applied to the tire molding process, thereby eliminating the mixing, rolling, slitting process, so that each tire can save about 250 grams of rubber, greatly Reduce tire compound usage and labor costs. This surprises most of the tire companies present here.
White Carbon Black, another raw material that is also used to make green tires, has also been favored by foreign companies. According to analysis of Essence Securities, the market for highly dispersed white carbon used in the preparation of green tires has great potential. It is expected that the demand for white carbon in the domestic tire industry in 2015 and 2020 will be 560,000 tons and 1.65 million tons respectively, of which high-dispersion white carbon At 380,000 tons and 142 million tons, in 2012, the demand for white carbon in the domestic tire industry was only 180,000 tons, of which, the demand for highly dispersed white carbon was only less than 40,000 tons, and the market has great development potential. Due to the great demand for white carbon in the green tire market, Rhodia has expanded its production capacity by 40% in the past three years. Germany’s Evonik Industries Group will also expand 30% by 2015.
Industry experts pointed out that green tire label regulations in the European Union, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil all put the reduction of tire rolling resistance at the forefront. The most critical technology to reduce the rolling resistance of tires is to change the tread rubber formula. Compared with traditional radial tires, four key raw materials are newly added, namely solution butadiene styrene rubber, rare earth butadiene rubber, highly dispersed silica, A silane coupling agent. Green tires are a related industry. The raw materials involved are rubber, carbon black, steel wire, and cord fabrics. Tires are only the final product. At present, China's green tire industry is still not self-sufficient, and the level of localization of major raw materials is still not high. Some key technologies need to be improved and rely on imported raw materials to make products with low rolling resistance. Therefore, whoever can preemptively launch advanced products with low cost and excellent green raw materials and related industries will be able to seize opportunities in the green tire market.
Development trend is irreversible
Since all parties are optimistic about the prospects of China's green tire market, what is the plan for the future development of China's green tires? What speed will it develop? What are the problems in the current development?
According to report, China's green tire labeling system is still in the discussion stage. The discussion paper divides the development of green tires into five time nodes. The first time period is from 2015 to 2016. During this period, Type C1 tires provided a voluntary rating on tire fuel efficiency, tire wet grip and tire rolling noise. Types C2 and C3 were partially voluntary; by 2017, these three types of tires must be labeled.
“As can be seen from the discussion paper, as the situation develops, it is a general trend for China to upgrade from ordinary radial tires to green tires. The domestic industrialization of green tires will be in a voluntary phase before 2017, and from 2017 onwards it will be transferred to enforcement. The green process of domestic radial tires will basically follow the semi-steel tires, the post-all-steel tires, first the original tires, and then replace the tires, and then voluntarily and later enforce the principle.†According to industry sources.
At the same time, industry sources said that tires are not the first industry to implement a simple and easy-to-understand labeling system. The European Union and the United States had promoted the use of energy efficiency labels in the electrical appliance industries such as refrigerators, and energy efficiency has quickly become a primary concern for consumer electronics. Tire labels can also enable consumers to understand the various properties of the tire at a glance, and then choose the most suitable product, fundamentally change the concept of people on the tire. This change in consumer behavior has forced China's tire industry to increase its technological capabilities, eliminate backward production capacity, accelerate industrial restructuring, improve product quality, and produce more high-quality tire products to meet market demand.
"Now, we are very familiar with the energy efficiency labeling system of household appliances and have become an important reference for us to purchase home appliances. The tire labeling system will be gradually improved," said an industry source.
The reporter also learned that the "tire industry access conditions" under study will put forward specific requirements in terms of energy consumption, resource consumption, emissions, rolling resistance coefficient, etc., emphasizing the development of green tires.
Cai Weimin told reporters that the introduction of access conditions will have an impact on both inventory capacity and new capacity, which will inhibit low-level redundant construction in the tire industry and prevent excess capacity. It is particularly important that the document will pay more attention to the quality and environmental protection of the tires. Green tires will become the direction of future industry development. In the future, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will make announcements on the list of companies that meet the requirements. Enterprises that are not on the list may find it difficult to obtain support in policies, credit, etc.
Qian Ruiqi also called for the realization of green tire industrialization also requires a series of supporting measures and related policies. The government should further promote the green revolution in the tire industry and related industries, such as the introduction of support policies such as subsidies for home appliances and electric vehicles to automobile manufacturers, encourage the automotive industry to increase the demand for green tires, and the road transportation sector should not be scientifically domestic. The status quo of irrational road transport will increase the intensity of governance so that green tires can play their due role.
Experts also called on China to increase the development of green tires. At present, few domestic companies are focusing on green tires. We hope that the state can support some green tire R&D projects and truly implement them as companies are entities that really promote the development of green tires. At the same time, it hopes that the government and enterprises will increase investment in the introduction of relevant sophisticated equipment and vigorously promote the development of the green tire industry.
