Xinjiang 300,000 tons of potassium nitrate (sodium) project started

On May 9th, the commencement of the project of the annual output of 2x300,000 tons of potassium nitrate (sodium) and supporting cogeneration project was kicked off in Nanhu Gobi, Shanshan County, Xinjiang.

The project was invested and built by China Wanxiang Group Xinjiang Wanxiang Company with a total investment of 1.508 billion yuan and a profit and tax of 117 million yuan will be realized after reaching production. The 300,000 tons per year potassium nitrate (sodium) project started construction was approved by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission on November 30, 2009 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in October 2013.

It is reported that in 2005, the geological department discovered a sodium sulphide deposit with a total area of ​​more than 3,000 square kilometers in Shanshan County, Xinjiang, and found that the sodium nitrate prospective resource amounted to 170 million tons. The census mining area is located in the Xiaocao Lake in Shanshan County, Xinjiang, and its vast area to the south, with an area of ​​more than 10,000 square kilometers.
