Chinese buses are actively and steadily heading for the EU market

The biennial World Bus Expo Europe 2013 (hereinafter referred to as the “European Bus Show”) was held in the Belgian town of Kortrijk from October 18th to 23rd. At this year's exhibition, the world-famous coaches and parts manufacturers gathered and exhibited more than ever before. Not only did the indoor exhibition halls fill up, but three outdoor temporary pavilions were also built, which was unprecedented.

The reporter noticed that the difference from the previous exhibition was that the enthusiasm of China's bus companies to participate in the exhibition was significantly improved. Apart from Yutong, Dajinlong, Ankai, and BYD, the four well-known vehicle companies exhibited, there were also two bus companies that had products. With the participation of suppliers and partners, together with several domestic parts and components companies, this exhibition has become the largest exhibition for Chinese companies. The reporter saw that the booths of several Chinese bus companies were all well-built special booths, which were not comparable to the temporary booths that were temporarily built by Chinese enterprises when they first exhibited several years ago.

The EU market is regarded as a highland for global passenger car technology. It is not easy for Chinese car companies to enter this market. However, it can be seen from the changes in the participation of Chinese companies that Chinese companies are increasingly moving towards overseas markets and their attitudes towards the European market have become increasingly positive. This reflects from one side that the overall level of passenger cars in China has been improved, technical performance and product quality have made great progress, companies are confident to show results on the big stage of the European Bus Show and spread brand image.

Big golden dragon takes the lead

The reporter saw Marvin Xiong, manager of the company's brand planning department at the Grand Dragon booth. He said that from the customs statistics in the first half of this year, Dajinlong Bus exports ranked first in the industry and became the leading exporter of large and medium-sized passenger cars. At the exhibition site, Daikin Dragon specifically arranged for the delivery of the 40,000th passenger bus to users in overseas markets. A large number of foreign media reporters came to cover the report and made the brand image of Daikinon further improve in foreign markets.

Dajinlong has always taken a positive attitude toward participating in foreign professional exhibitions. In 2005, the first Chinese bus company that was greeted by the European Bus Show was Dajinlong. To this day, Dajinlong has exhibited itself at the world's largest bus exhibition for five consecutive years. According to Ma Wenxiong, in addition to participating in the European Bus Show, Daikin Dragon also selected some other specialized exhibitions from abroad to participate in the exhibition to expand the brand communication, and to get to know more overseas businessmen.

Ma Wenxiong told reporters that Dajinlong had exported more than 2,000 buses to Europe. Da Jinlong’s preparations for entering the European market are very solid. In addition to obtaining product certifications required by regulations, the company also established a production line for the European market in the new factory in Xiamen. For this production line, enterprises do not emphasize how much output must be achieved, but they put forward quite high demands on quality. This is consistent with the cautious attitude of Daikin Dragon to the European market. "We don't ask for much sales, but we must ensure product quality," said Ma Wenxiong.

Yutong is steadily playing steadily

When the reporter arrived at the Yutong booth, he was catching up with Yutong to hold a press conference. Yu Tong, the manager of Europe and the United States’ regional market for Yutong’s overseas marketing department, said that Yutong’s three models brought by this exhibition are all aimed at Europe’s implementation of Euro VI emission standards and equipped with DAF Euro VI engines next year. One of the models is a three-in-one model that integrates school bus, inter-city passenger transport, and tourism. It hopes to meet the needs of European users through innovations in usage.

According to He Wei, Yutong sold 3,000 vehicles in overseas markets from January to September this year. Since the time to enter the European market is not long, the European market has about 1,000 vehicles. Last year, sales of 200 vehicles were expected to double this year to 400 vehicles. Yutong's European market strategy is stable and stable, not on the quantity, service first. "Don't go in and it will not come out." Because the probability of coming in and out is almost zero. Therefore, the current focus is on product quality and service." He Yan said.

After the press conference, the Chinese ambassador to Belgium Liao Liqiang came to the Yutong booth to visit the on-site staff and other Chinese and foreign friends and took a photo with everyone. Ambassador Liao later went to other participating Chinese companies to visit exhibitors.

Ankai step by step

At the Ankai booth, the reporter saw that Ankai brought an electric bus and a double-decker tourist bus. Anguo International's deputy general manager Li Guojun told reporters: "We have sold more than 1,000 electric cars in China, and our product technology is relatively mature. Ankai is cautious about entering the European market for pure electric vehicles and is currently achieving sales in European and American markets. The product is still a traditional diesel passenger car, after all, the diesel passenger car is still the mainstream product of the European and American passenger car market.

Ankai’s main market for Europe and the United States is high-end double-decker tourist buses, tourist buses, buses and school buses. "Our policy is to step by step and steadily advance," said Li Guoxi.

BYD Double Happiness

According to the convention, before the opening of the exhibition organizing committee, it organized a total of 17 bus registrations to compete in the evaluation of “Europe Bus Week” for each award, followed by the announcement of the evaluation results. BYD Electric Bus became the only Chinese passenger car to register for competition awards and won the “Best Green Bus” award.

On the reporter’s day prior to the opening of the exhibition, the organizing committee held an award ceremony for awards such as the “Best Bus Manufacturer” in a small town theater. German Mann received the 2013 Best Manufacturer Award, and the 2014 Best Coach Manufacturer Award, the organizing committee granted BYD's corporate leader.

In this way, BYD’s participation in two international awards at one exhibition was a worthwhile trip.
