The yellow-green flash of fireflies is one of the simplest pleasures of summer. Children from generation to generation dream of the fire in the courtyard filled with fireflies. One day it may be possible to say that you have got a light filled with fireflies, or at least a light bulb inspired by fireflies.
The latest research has found that LED lights in the form of firefighter-inspired lenses require less energy to emit more light. Scientists have developed a lens for LED lights that resembles small folds covered by firefly lanterns. This lens allows 98 light to pass through it, which is better than a conventional light bulb and this improvement is similar to applying an expensive anti-reflective coat to the bulb.
South Korean researchers inspired the development of a new high-transparency LED bulb by the fire-fighting abdomen illumination model. Zheng Jixun and colleagues at the Korea Advanced Science and Technology Research Center conducted a study on the belly of fireflies with a scanning electron microscope. They found that the part of the lantern that glows in the abdomen consists of three layers and has obvious similarities to LED bulbs. A standard LED bulb consists of a reflector cup and a lens-clamped source. Similarly, a firefly lantern consists of a reflective layer, a luminescent layer and a stratum corneum or a carapace covered with fine folds. Compared to the remaining part of the shell of the firefly, the folds of the light transmitted by the firefly's abdomen are quite neat and orderly.
Zheng Jixun found that this fold helped the firefly's special light wavelength to pass through the firefly's lantern more effectively, so they tried to etch a similar pattern with plastic. As expected, creating a similar pattern on an LED bulb can transmit more light. Researchers say the technology can be used to enhance the light of camera phones, flashlights, headlights and even home lighting.
This inspiration is not the exact case borrowed from Mother Nature, because artificial LED bulbs are more tidy and regular than the tail of a firefly. The researchers used nano-etching to package the bulb into a honeycomb shape rather than a long fold like a firefly. But like a real firefly, this pattern seems to be most effective when the light is 560 nanometers in length or similar to the yellow-green light of fireflies.
Zheng Jixun said that it doesn't necessarily mean that we will all carry the firefly color lights. This nanostructure can be altered to enhance different wavelengths. Transmittance is very sensitive to the shape of the nanostructures, which can be optimized for a particular wavelength of light.
EVA mat is a kind of foam mat for EVA sport mat, EVA Exercise Mat, and EVA training mat, made from Eco-friendly, high density, closed cell, non-smell and non-toxic EVA foam material.
The EVA mat is offered in either 60cm x 60cm size or 100cm x 100cm size. 60cm x 60cm size. With interlocking edges, the mats can be easy to connect together without any loose.
60cm x 60cm EVA mat is normally applied in room, or gym. It is easy to store, more popular for the personal exercise lovers to use at home. Also it can be a good protection for home flooring if you are intended to set up a heavy training equipment in your house.
100cm x 100cm EVA mat is also called Martial Arts Mat,
Taekwondo mat, Karate mat, Judo mat, Jiu Jitsu mat and Aikido mat, cause it is
normally applied in dojo for Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Jiu Jitsu and Aikido training.
Also the mat is reversible with double colors, which forms a standard size
flooring for training.
