R stands for geothermal rig (geothermal)

The first feature code represents the transmission mechanism:

B indicates hand-wheel operation, mechanical transmission

Y indicates hydraulic control, mechanical transmission

JD indicates mechanical power head

D means full hydraulic power head

P represents the turntable

Ball valves are straight-through flow valves which provide positive shutoff with minimal pressure drop and flow turbulence. The barrier to flow is a ball which is rotated 90 degrees to the direction of flow. Ball valves are one of the family of quarter turn valves.

Ball valves are durable and usually work to achieve perfect shutoff. They are therefore an excellent choice for shutoff applications. They do not offer the fine control that may be necessary in throttling applications but are sometimes used for this purpose.
