Limonite

Limonite ore containing water of crystallization is Fe 2 O 3, the formula can be used mFe 2 O 3 · nH 2 O represents, it is actually a goethite (mFe 2 O 3 · nH 2 O), water hematite (2Fe 2 O 3 ·nH 2 O), a mixture of iron hydroxide and mud. Most of the limonite in nature exists in the form of 2Fe 2 O 3 ·nH 2 O.
The density of limonite is 3.0~4.2g/cm 3 and the hardness is 1~4. Its appearance color is yellowish brown and black, and it is non-magnetic. Since the limonite ore is formed by weathering of other ores, the structure is soft and the water content is large.
In the natural world, limonite is less rich in ore, generally containing 37% to 55% of iron. Its main gangue is clay and quartz , and sulfur, phosphorus and arsenic are generally higher. When the iron content is less than 35%, it needs to be beneficiated , usually by re-election method and magnetization roasting-magnetic separation method.
At present, some pellet plants, such as the Robe River in Australia and the Sidor plant in Venezuela, have become the main raw materials. China's Pingxiang Iron and Steel Plant also uses some limonite to make balls.
