Phosphate resources have been listed by China as one of the 20 minerals that cannot meet the needs of national economic development after 2010. The research team of the Chinese Academy of Engineering has also officially listed the “Phosphorus Resource Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Project†as one of the 17 major scientific research projects in the country. Yunnan reserves 1.94 billion tons of phosphate rock resources, but more than 90% of them are difficult to choose medium and low grade phosphate rock.
In 2000, Phosphate Group formally formed a research group to carry out technical research. After several years of hard work, it finally developed a series of new mineral processing chemicals and new supporting technologies. In 2007, based on the laboratory test, the 1,000-ton expansion test and the 10,000-ton industrial test, they completed the development of complete sets of medium and low grade phosphate rock ore dressing, and built two sets of 2 million tons/year concentrator. The production line has an average yield of 65.20% for medium and low grade phosphate rock, and the average recovery rate is 84.71%, which has opened up an effective way for the development, utilization and processing of medium and low grade phosphate resources of 2.05 billion tons in the province. At the same time, it also opened up a bright future for the development and utilization of China's silicon-calcium low-grade and difficult-to-select colloidal phosphate rock. The mineral processing chemicals they developed were tested by the world's reagent industry giants Akzo, Sweden and the American Amai Company, and their economic and technical indicators exceeded their reagent levels. In addition to mineral processing chemicals, Phosphate Group has also created scientific research results such as “open-air long-wall†mining method, scrubbing and beneficiation method, calcareous phosphate rock dressing, and weathering of colloidal phosphate mine. The mining intensity is increased by 70%, the depletion rate is reduced by 69.7%, and the loss rate is reduced by 11%; the yield of scrubbing and dressing is 91.5%, and the recovery rate is 92.3%. A batch of achievements won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the National First, Second and Third Prizes. Technological innovation has become a “booster†for the development of the Phosphate Group. It is understood that the Group relies on the transformation and utilization of scientific and technological achievements, and increases sales revenue by more than 400 million yuan per year.
