In 2011, the import and export volume of China's sewing machines hit a record high. Customs statistics show that the total import and export trade of sewing machine products and components in China was 2.41 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, a year-on-year increase of 21.72%. Of which exports were 20.0 billion U.S. dollars, up 24.21%; imports were 410 million U.S. dollars, up 4.19%; trade surpluses were 1.59 billion U.S. dollars. The export of the industry remained high throughout the year, with the monthly export volume three times (3,4, and July) refreshing the monthly maximum export value, of which the export value in July was as high as US$205 million.
