Indonesia: Automobile sales soared 28% in the first half

According to Indonesia's Investor Daily report, the latest statistics from the Indonesia Automobile Industry Association show that in the first half of this year Indonesia's new car sales reached 532,800, an increase of 28.06% year-on-year, exceeding the Association’s projected target of 500,000 sales. Among them, sales exceeded 100,000 units in June, which is the highest single-month sales in the first half of the year. This is in line with the increase in demand for vehicles for the celebration of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr in August.

Indonesia Automotive Industry Association is not optimistic about the prospects of Indonesia's auto sales throughout the year. Its chairman Sudirman said that starting from June 15th, the Indonesian government will increase the down payment ratio of auto loans to 25-30%, which will affect auto sales in the second half of the year, and it expects to sell less than 400,000 vehicles in the second half of the year.
