Keppel Shipyard will receive the second contract for the conversion of floating LNG plant

Recently, Singapore's Keppel Shipyard is about to sign a second floating liquefied natural gas plant (FLNG) conversion contract with Golar LNG. At present, the relevant negotiations have entered the final stage. After the contract is signed, Keppel Shipyard will be responsible for converting Golar LNG's LNG ship “Gimi” into FLNG.
In early July, Golar LNG signed a $735 million contract with Keppel Shipyard to convert the 125,000 cubic meter LNG ship "Hilli" into FLNG, the world's first LNG converted from FLNG. The contract also includes an alternative order for two ships, and the second contract to be signed is the first ship in the alternate order.
Keppel Shipyard said that the work of the second conversion contract is similar to the first one. The Keppel Shipyard will be responsible for providing general contracting for design, ship system procurement and all construction related to the modification. In addition, like the previous ship, Black & Veatch will also participate in the design, procurement and commissioning support for the second FLNG upper module and liquefaction process.
Keppel Shipyard is expected to finalize a second conversion contract with Golar LNG in October, and the shipyard will begin construction of the second FLNG after receiving the notice of commencement of work from January to November next year. Keppel Shipyard previously stated that after the entry order takes effect, the two FLNGs will be delivered in the third quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018, respectively.
