PIN code may kill restaurant tips

From Friday, all cardholders need to use their PIN code when they consume. The signature is to increase safety and prevent fraudulent scrapping, but this may have some unintended consequences for the country's waiters. The new study found that in small to medium-sized companies, payments were made through electronic transfer, beginners were paid, and transactions using PINs had increased from 59% in November 2013 to 78% in 2014. But the store that has eaten is already falling behind, with only 66% of the PIN code used.
Beginners pay the co-founder, Andrew Roswell, to warn that the change may be a tip to be squandered from 37,700 restaurants, cafes and bars in Australia. This is because when the bill is signed, the customer can insert a tip at the bottom of his own card transaction. However, it is usually traded with a PIN code and the amount is locked at the front desk details. "Imagine that cardholders are looking for cash to provide tips. They can no longer provide this as part of the signing process," Mr. Roswell said in a statement.
This may see that tipping is the main source of income for restaurants and their staff. Tips are expected to drop in double figures, similar to the experience in the UK, the signature is eliminated. Mr. Roswell urged restaurants to switch to mobile technology so that customers would use the EFTPOS terminal at the table and be able to nominate the amount they were willing to pay and tip.
