Samsung Heavy Industries successfully jointly developed FSRU regasification unit

On September 23, South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries and South Korea's parts companies successfully developed the LNG-FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) regasifier.
LNG-FSRU is a special vessel that regasifies LNG at sea and transports it directly to land demanders. The regasifier on the LNG-FSRU is the core component for gasifying LNG into natural gas. So far, Samsung Heavy Industries has relied on imported accessories from abroad.
Since 2012, Samsung Heavy Industries and the Korean accessory company Sewon Cellontech have jointly developed the LNG-FSRU regasifier development project. Samsung Heavy Industries is responsible for system technology development and design, and Sewon Cellontech is responsible for sample production and future device supply.
Samsung Heavy Industries completed the sample production work in May 2014, and in July 2014, invited the main shipowners in the LNG-FSRU field to test and prove the function of the sample.
The manufacturing cost of the related regasifier is 20-30% lower than that of imported products. At the same time, the original noise problem is solved, and the design and size are also greatly improved.
Samsung Heavy Industries has already proved the function of the gasifier in front of the main shipowners. In this context, the LNG-FSRU to be built in the future will be equipped with relevant accessories.
