Recently, Wärtsilä and Nigerian Bonny Gas Transportation Co., Ltd. (BGT) signed a five-year maintenance agreement to provide monitoring and service for the engines of BGT's six new LNG carriers.
Bonny Gas Transportation Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Nigerian LNG Co., Ltd., which mainly exports LNG goods to the Eurasian market.
Each of the six new LNG carriers is equipped with five Wärtsilä 50DF engines, mainly using gas as fuel.
Simon Auseth, General Manager of Wärtsilä Shipbuilding Business Development, said, “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to provide Bonny Gas Transport with our excellent maintenance services. In addition to extending engine operating hours, we will also improve maintenance planning and operational cost control for our customers.
It is reported that Wärtsilä's Dynamic Maintenance Plan (DMP) concept will use state-based monitoring (CBM) to determine the exact engine maintenance needs, and BGT will also receive Wärtsilä's operational and technical support online 24 hours a day.
The agreement is also the first time Wärtsilä has adopted a data acquisition system to help customers optimize operations and take advantage of the convenience of digital. The system provides real-time access and analyzes data, automatically measuring power.
