Shanghai Jiaotong University Releases China Automotive Consumer Evaluation Report

On July 18th, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Cheyanbao Automobile Service Co., Ltd. jointly released the 2012 China Automotive Consumer Evaluation Report. The report shows that consumers are more satisfied with the use of personal vehicles, with a perfect score of 10, with a satisfaction rate of 7.85; among the survey respondents, the overall satisfaction with 4S stores is high, but the transparency of the maintenance process is more low.

In terms of car satisfaction, imported car consumers highly agree that joint venture cars dominate the market, and domestic cars still need to improve on product quality and service levels. Consumers rated the highest level of satisfaction with imported cars, out of 10 points, with an average score of 8.09 points; followed by joint venture cars with an average score of 7.85 points; and self-owned brands of domestic car satisfaction scores averaged 7.66 points. Correspondingly, the brand loyalty of imported vehicles or joint venture vehicles is high, and the loyalty of autonomous vehicle brands is low.

In terms of auto insurance, surveys show that 4S stores are the main sales channels for auto insurance; the high prices and slow claims are the main reasons for consumers to change insurance companies; most of the respondents’ auto insurance premiums range from 2000 to 5,000 yuan. Automobile extended warranty service has great market potential. More than half of the respondents are willing to purchase extended car warranty service. The higher education level and higher income are more willing to buy, 4S shop is still the preferred channel for extended warranty service. Consumers are most convinced that car extension services do not have to worry about this. 2000 to 4000 yuan is the most recognized service price.
