Thermo Fisher's business grew 20% year-on-year last year

Recently, scientific equipment giant Thermo Fisher Scientific (hereinafter referred to as “Taimefei”) announced that the China Innovation Center established in Shanghai has been put into use. With a sales volume of US$13 billion last year, Thermo Fisher was involved in the exploration of Mars and the safety monitoring of nuclear power plants.

The establishment of the China Innovation Center costs US$9.5 million. It is expected that the number of researchers will increase to 200 to 300 in the next two to three years.

The recent review and approval of China's nuclear power has provided new requirements for monitoring equipment.

In nuclear power plants, Thermo Fisher can provide nuclear power radiation safety testing projects.

According to Zhou Hua, director of Thermo Fisher Scientific's China Technology Center, China is now the largest market for nuclear power. In the past few decades, Europe and the United States have hardly built new nuclear power plants. However, the new crew also has new challenges. "China's new three-generation or higher nuclear power unit will have different requirements from those of Europe and the United States, and doing a proper adjustment is exactly what we are doing."

Mr. Mai Shifu, president of Thermo Fishery China, introduced that in 2012, the company’s operating income in the Chinese market was US$735 million, an increase of 20% from 2011. Among them, the revenue growth of environmental monitoring equipment is higher than 20%.

In response to the recent soil pollution incidents that have been repeatedly exposed in the country, Thermo Fisher said that he believes that the government and companies will increase investment in soil monitoring equipment and consumables.
