The residual stress of the tooth root is large, and it is easy to break the tooth; after heat treatment, the tooth is generally no longer ground, the gear precision is low; the hardness gradient of the glass spray paint machine is not easy to control, the core toughness is often insufficient, and the load carrying capacity is low. Therefore, the selection of reasonable materials and heat treatment process can fully exert the great superiority of carburizing and quenching gears.
The shear stress under the surface of the tooth tooth and the shear strength of the material are calculated. The failure modes of the carburized and hardened gear are mainly the flaking and surface crushing, and the surface crushing is related to the depth of the carburized layer. This failure is related to the shear stress and shear strength of the material at the intersection of the hard surface and the soft substrate. Therefore, the maximum ratio of the two can be calculated if necessary.
