Intellian Technologies, a provider of maritime satellite communications and entertainment systems, said it will introduce the v65 antenna at the 2017 satellite show in Washington, DC; a 60cm Ku/Ka band convertible satellite communications antenna.
According to Intellian Technologies, the v65 antenna is designed to drive new connectivity solutions in the mobile market by enabling Ku- and Ka-band communication on the same antenna.
Traditional antenna techniques have to choose between one frequency or another. A minimal investment in a compact conversion tool will help the v65 antenna convert between the Ku-band and the Ka-band in as little as 10 minutes.
The v65 antenna will be built on the same pedestal as the Intellian GX60 terminal. The GX60 antenna is currently deployed on ships using the Inmarsat Ka-band Fleet Xpress service. In its Ka-band structure, the v65 antenna is designed for simultaneous use with the International Maritime Satellite Global Xpress (GX) network. Looking ahead, Intellian's entire antenna system portfolio will be upgradeable to GX, including 80cm antennas and larger diameter 1.5m and 2.4m antennas.
